I Am A Writer!

One of my “resolutions” for 2020 was to write more! I don’t know why I came up with that one. I actually write every single day of my life in one form or another. I manage a total of 8 blogs, each one gets at least a post each week. One of my blogs has had a Sunday entry for the last 9 years, without fail, right here on WordPress .

Every once in a while, I think I am not worthy of calling myself a writer. I have never been paid for my creatively written work, only for translations and articles that I have edited. Still that counts for something. It has dawned on me recently that I need to go back, cull my best work, edit it and self-publish. Then I will market it like crazy and see what happens. Goodness knows, I have lots of material.

I belong to a small group of serious writers in my little town of Atenas, Costa Rica. When I was a child growing up in Brooklyn, New York very few people knew that Costa Rica existed. I returned home (CR) permanently in 1999. I have never been happier. In the 20 years since my return, my country has changed a lot. My newest writing endeavor is going to focus attention on the politics of my small town…with all the names changed, of course, to protect myself!

My practical, strong-willed, independent self thought it best to study business rather than going for a career as a librarian which I think I would have been excellent at. I guess I just never thought there was any money in it. In retrospect, it was a silly decision on my part and one that makes no sense to regret but one decision I wish I had thought more about. Oh well, who says it’s too late?!
